Blueprint LSAT Instructor Get-to-Know: Southern California I

BPPhank-lsat-blog-instructor-get-to-know-southern-california-i
We’re winding down the Blueprint LSAT Prep Instructor Get-to-Know series here on the LSAT blog, with only the southern California area left. We’ve got so many classes in the area, I had to split it into two LSAT blog posts (part II will go up next week).

If you’re unfamiliar with Blueprint LSAT Prep Instructor Get-to-Know, it entails all Blueprint LSAT Prep summer instructors answering five unique questions so that you can know them a little better before taking their LSAT prep class. If you’re not in the LA area, you may want to check out the Blueprint LSAT Prep Instructor Get-to-Knows in New York, Boston and Washington DC, Chicago, Miami and Philadelphia, Texas, the Bay area, or Phoenix, San Diego and Seattle.

Let’s meet Blueprint LSAT Prep’s summer LSAT course instructors in southern California (the first half of them, at least):

JAY DONNELL

1) What’s playing on your iPod/Spotify/radio the most these days?
My iPod has lately been on a steady diet of Alt-J, Jake Bugg and Wild Belle.

2) You’re on death row (shame on you!). What’s your last meal?
My usual go-to has always been anything from Nico’s, my favorite hole-in-the-wall Mexican joint back home in San Diego. However, ever since traveling to Japan I’ve had a legitimate addiction to the spicy miso ramen at the Mitsuya market in Orange County, so I might have to lean that way at the moment.

3) Which famous person would you marry right now, no questions asked, and why?
Natalie Portman. Because, well, Natalie Portman.

4) If you had a time machine, when/where would you visit, and why?
I would travel to September 26, 2010 and watch Jimi Heselden, the inventor of the Segway, ride his creation off a cliff to his death. Quite possibly the most hilariously ironic moment in all of history.

5) What’s your best LSAT story?
My favorite LSAT story involves a former student of mine who has recently graduated from Harvard Law School. The student, a total babe mind you, vomited mid-exam and scattered her competition around the room. Unphased, she trudged onward to a perfect 180 LSAT score. That my friends, is an LSAT champion.

CAROL DYSART

1) What’s playing on your iPod/Spotify/radio the most these days?
A lot of Vampire Weekend. The toddler station on Pandora is also popular in my house.

2) You’re on death row (shame on you!). What’s your last meal?
A new jar of Nutella.

3) Which famous person would you marry right now, no questions asked, and why?
Christian Bale. I’ve had a crush on him ever since seeing him sing and dance in Newsies when I was in elementary school. Plus, we’re both already married so we would bond over being homewreckers.

4) If you had a time machine, when/where would you visit, and why?
I would visit the Sierra Nevada in 1846 and tell the Donner Party not to eat each other.

5) What’s your best LSAT story?
My best LSAT story/memory is the day after I took the test when I recycled all my LSAT prep books.

BRANDEN FRANKEL

1) What’s playing on your iPod/Spotify/radio the most these days?
Currently obsessed with “Madness” by Muse.

2) You’re on death row (shame on you!). What’s your last meal?
Cheddar burger, cooked medium rare, topped with crispy bacon and a gooey, yolky fried egg.

3) Which famous person would you marry right now, no questions asked, and why?
Whoever has the most money and not enough sense to insist upon a prenup.

4) If you had a time machine, when/where would you visit, and why?
The future, as far as I can go before the Apocalypse. Does the time machine take me anywhere in the universe? I’d like to see some aliens, as long as they don’t eat LSAT instructors.

5) What’s your best LSAT story?
I got a day off of work when a gunman was reported on campus. Turns out it was a hoax by a CSUN student who didn’t want to take a final. Womp womp…

LUCAS PETERSON

1) What’s playing on your iPod/Spotify/radio the most these days?
So far this summer I’ve been into Foxygen, Mac Demarco, and Cayucas. All worth checking out!

2) You’re on death row (shame on you!). What’s your last meal?
If I only have one meal left I’ll take steak from Argentina, wine and bread from France, and why not throw in some pasta from Italy, too. I’ll be a cultured criminal.
BPPhank-lsat-blog-instructor-get-to-know-peterson
3) Which famous person would you marry right now, no questions asked, and why?
I’ll go with Candice Swanepoel, again for culture reasons of course. But I guess I’ve watched too much Chappelle’s Show because my first thought was Oprah…

4) If you had a time machine, when/where would you visit, and why?
I’ve always been into music from the 60s, so I’d probably go back and catch bands like the Doors and the Beatles playing in their prime.

5) What’s your best LSAT story?
At the LSAT test center, there was this guy a couple rows ahead of me who would finish every section a solid 10-15 minutes early, drop his pencil and slouch back and relax until time was called. Impressed after seeing this three times in a row, I asked him during the break how he did it. He deadpanned that there was no need to finish the sections because he only needed a 155, and I was no longer impressed.
