On June 6th, before actually taking the LSAT, you’ll be required to jump through a bunch of administrative hoops. You’ll have to check in, wait to be assigned to a room, and then sit around for what will seem like hours as you’re read long-winded instructions and regulations. Because of this, the LSAT doesn’t actually begin until an hour or more after the 12:30 reporting time. One of the many delights of checking in has always been getting fingerprinted like some sort of common bank-account opener.

But no more. Starting this year, you’ll have to bring a photo instead. Yes, really- one more thing to remember. According to LSAC’s website:

“In addition, all candidates must attach to their ticket a recent photograph (taken within the last six months) showing only the face and shoulders. The photograph must be clear enough so there is no doubt about the test taker’s identity, and must be no larger than 2 x 2 inches (5 x 5 cm) and no smaller than 1 x 1 inch (3 x 3 cm). Your face in the photo must show you as you look on the day of the test (for example, with or without a beard). The photograph will be retained by LSAC only as long as needed to assure the authenticity of test scores and to protect the integrity of the testing process.”

Another headache, yes. And apparently you need to plan out your facial hair. You should go out and get the photo taken now, so that you don’t have to worry about it in the days leading up to the test. It’s basically just a passport photo, which you can usually get taken at any photo department of a drugstore, so just throw another $8 on the increasing pile of funds that are being spent to get into law school.
